by BlondieWrites on August 29, 2010

Creative Work at Home Ideas for Moms

More and more people are finding ways to earn money and work at home. There are many moms who would love to stay home to work and have their own income. Most homes have personal computers, which opens the door to many business opportunities for moms. It is estimated that there are more than three million people working at home now. You too can realize your dream of independence and success.

The mom who wants to make money at home has the ability to set her own schedule and work as much as she wants. If you are only interested in part-time work, then you can regulate the time spent on your home business. If you want to quit an outside job and work full-time at home, the option is your choice.

Find a Legitimate Business Opportunity

There are numerous legiatimate business opportunities for someone who wants to work at home. Some work-at-home moms choose an enterprise based on their own interests. Others choose to work for someone else and provide services needed. There are directories on the Internet to help you find the right company for you, or you can simply start with something you personally love to do or know about, such as crafting baby/toddler pads for shipping cart buggies.

There are many companies that need help with clerical and computer work. You can also make money at home by doing phone polls, processing insurance claims and doing background checks. There are many companies that need products assembled at home, which could help you to get started in a home business of your own. Also, check with “work-at-home mom” websites for great tips, job resources, and helpful advice.

Be Your Own Boss

If you have a unique product or service to offer, you can open your own business web page. There are websites on the Internet to help you get started and many are free. This is an excellent business opportunity to get your products where the public will find them. With a website, you can still be your own boss and put as much time into the business as you want.

Some moms do not have the time or desire to promote their own products or services. Many have tried MLM and network marketing ventures and come away disillusioned. They may not want to sell products and deal with customers. In these cases, finding a good company that will train and support you is very important. Also, there are companies now that do the selling for you. They provide a phone staff to answer sales calls and close the sales. Some companies will even help you promote the business.

Benefit from Your Home Business

Instead of investing a large sum of your money in a business opportunity, find a company that allows you to enter at various levels where you can work up to higher levels. Instead of you having the burden of making all the sales and doing the support work, it is to your advantage to work with a company that helps you in your business. Doing so will allow you to keep a healthy balance between work and home life.

If you don’t want high pressure and stressful goals, find a business opportunity that suits your interests and objectives. If you want to make money to live on or need something to do to fill your time, start looking now for the home business that will fulfill your hopes and dreams.

Sell Your Crafts! Turn Your Hobby into Spending Money

If you enjoy creating and you constantly hear people telling you that you should sell your creations, it may be time to voyage into the world of selling your crafts for money. Like all things, entering the world of selling crafts should be carefully planned out. There are many websites and venues where you can sell your crafts both online and off.

Online venues are a great way to reach customers all over the world. Popular websites like Etsy, Artfire and eBay are great tools that help to reach your targeted customers. Before making the plunge into selling your crafts, be sure to take the time and do some research beforehand. Keep the following questions in mind as you consider the prospect of selling your creations:

* Do I have a product that people would want to buy? This is the most important question you have to ask yourself. If there is no target market for your products, you will have a hard time selling your creations and not because your items are not nice, but they may not be in demand.

* Who is my potential target market? This is a continuation of the question above because you need to know who to advertise to and how to successfully draw your target market to your items. It would be a waste of time trying to sell baby clothes, for example, to those who do not have children.

* What will I charge for my creations? Pricing is an important strategy. All too often, people undercharge for their creations forgetting to take into consideration the time and materials that go into a product. Make sure you account for both the cost of the materials as well as the time and effort you put forth to create your goods. Also be sure not to overcharge. You may find that your items do not sell because they are over priced.

* Where will I sell my items? Online websites are plentiful when it comes to selling handmade goods. There are websites such as Etsy and Artfire who only allow the sales of handmade goods, along with supplies. EBay is also another popular venue to sell handmade goods. Be aware though, that you will be competing with the other goods that are not handmade and may be cheaper. A good description of the item and its benefits is always a good idea.

If you choose to sell locally, try finding a store that will sell your items on consignment or sign up to exhibit at a local craft show. Both will be good for exposure. If you choose to go the consignment route, be sure to get all terms in writing. Otherwise you run the risk of having your items kept and not paid for.

It is very possible in today’s day and age to make some spending money selling your crafts. Be sure to do your research and follow through your plan by keeping the above questions in mind. Once you have your plan in mind, go ahead and take the plunge. But remember, like anything else, you will get in return what you put forth so make it worth your while.

5 Tips for a Successful Scrapbook Customer List

by BlondieWrites on October 13, 2009

Are you building your scrapbook customer list with success? If not, don’t give up! You can breathe new life into your scrapbooking list and at the same time have your list work for you instead of against you.

Although you may not be new to marketing your scrapbooking business on the internet, I want to revisit some tips that will get your list growing. Your list should help your scrapbooking business grow, not keep it stagnant. Your relationship between your opt-in list members and yourself must be one of trust. If don’t have trust, they probably won’t sign up. And if they do they may not stay subscribed. Here are a few strategies to help you build and maintain trust:

1. The customer must be able to unsubscribe from your list. Let each customer who signs up for your newsletter or ezine know they have the option to opt out quickly and easily whenever they like. Most autoresponder services include a link to unsubscribe at the end of the email. This is actually required by the CAN-SPAM Act.

2. Always offer interesting, relavent and valuable content. By providing your readers with informational articles and content, you are building trust with your customers. This initially takes time, but the benefit of having your customers trusting what you have to say is definitely worth your time. You’ll be viewed as an expert, which easily brings more prospects to you.

3. The popular 80/20 rule. People expect to be sold to when they receive an email. However if your emails include constant sales messages, they will likely click the unsubscribe button faster than you can say, “but wait, there’s more!” Try to include 80% valuable content and around 20% sales content. Of course, your marketing content needs to be relavant to your topic as well.

4. Get your customers involved. Breathe new life into your list by encouraging interaction. Create a survey, and post the results, ask questions and provide feedback. Remember, you’re building trust with your prosects and customers while building your business.

5. Balance the number of emails you send out. There’s a fine line between emailing too often and not emailing often enough. Find the balance that works with your customers and you. Track your click through and open rates. Most people who subscribe to your list expect emails from you on a regular basis. On the other hand they won’t be happy if you email them too often. When you create your opt-in box, specify how often you intend to contact them, letting them know their will be occasional extra mailings when you come across something that will be of interest to them.

Your list is how you communicate with your scrapbook customers. If you have no potential customers on your list, who will you communicate with to potentially sell your products? Provide good content and keep your customers anticipating your next mailing. Earn their trust, provide great content, show you are real and that you care, then your list will thrive!

Copywriting is a significant issue for achieving an excellent ranking in the search engines. Often scrapbooking business website owners believe that the only thing necessary is to incorporate their keywords in the page tags and include their targeted keyword occasionally throughout the page. While SEO copywriting isn’t actually difficult, writing for search engines is a bit more comprehensive than that.

Search engine optimization copywriting or SEO, is basically, writing text in a way that is easily scanned on your web page so that it reads well for the visitor and targets specific search terms. Its purpose is to have your web page rank highly in the search engines for those targeted terms.

SEO copywriting optimizes and enhances other components on the page for search terms being targeted as well, specifically the title, the content or image description and any keyword tags, alt text and headings.

Search engines look for and need authentic content pages, instead of additional pages, which are only designed for achieving high rankings. This is the concept of SEO copywriting. For this reason, search engines aren’t likely to consider SEO pages that have undesirable copywriting content.

In other words, your scrapbook business site’s content must follow good marketing standards. This is because excellent SEO copywriting recognizes that humans make the buying decisions, not “spiders”.

I recommend that your content consist of at least 250 words on each page, with a maximum of two targeted keywords. Use your keywords throughout the page casually not “stuffed” or forced in. Don’t forget to use your keywords strategically in other on-page components such as images.

Informative and quality content is definitely the foundation for a website to be successful. Your content should guide your visitors to exactly what they are looking for when visiting your website.

It’s important to remember that your visitors won’t always “read” all the content, but rather, will scan through the page or article, looking for important and eye-catching sentences or words. This means you need to write not only persuasive and eye-catching content, but it also needs to be scannable.

When someone visits your site in search of a product or service, it’s often because they are looking for more information. If you provide quality content that educates and is helpful, your visitors will stay longer. Content rich in scrapbooking business keywords will leave a long-term impression for your SEO campaign.

Here are a few tips for writing good quality SEO content:

1. Determine your key phrases before you begin the writing process. This will take some keyword esearch on your part. Reaching a high keyword concentration can be a difficult task. This can result in fragmented sentences, complicated statements and a copy that doesn’t flow naturally. If you already know your key phrases, then you are able to write naturally.

2. Know who your target audience is. This allows you to write with their needs and wants in mindy. You cannot write good quality, informative and convincing content without knowing what your visitor’s problems and needs are.

Your writing should offer a solution to their problems and in order for you to do that you need to first identify the problem before you can determine a solution.

3. Include your key phrases in headlines. Search engines believe that a headline is an important part of your content. Therefore keyword rich headlines produces additional results.

When you construct a headline, create them with the same keyword you used in your content. Also take note of the “HTML” encryption for your title. By utilizing “H1″ or “H2″ tags, they will catch the search engine’s attention.

4. Properly distribute or scatter your key phrases throughout the body of your website. You’ll want to do this effectively by focusing on two primary keywords that will flow naturally in your content. This is only a guideline; do not ruin a good article by inserting keywords in sentences where it does not fit just so you can use more keywords.

SEO copywriting doesn’t require you to write in a literary style; it just makes for poor web content. SEO copywriting stresses that you need to write for the internet and more importantly for your reader.

There is more to web copywriting for your scrapbooking business than merely writing well. Effective web copywriting, utilizing keywords and search engine optimization go hand in hand.

Starting a scrapbooking business doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to get started. That’s one of the nice advantages to this particular home business. It doesn’t require a lot of money to get it going.

There are many different directions that be be taken to have a scrapbooking home business. Whichever particular direction you choose to take in starting a scrapbook business, there are several things that should be done to get your new business rolling. You must advertise to let people know that you are in business. Taking out ads in your local paper is an inexpensive way to advertise. Ask family and friends to tell people they know about your new business. Business cards, a website, press releases, and word of mouth are just a few ways to advertise. You will also want to decide what or how much materials you need and set a budget.

If you decide to do direct sales of scrapbooking items, you have many options open in how to go about selling. You can host home parties, sell at craft shows, have a website, and post on auction sites like eBay.
